Sania Mirza is Ranked at 63rd in WTA Singles Ranking
Sania Mirza has improved two places from 65th to 63rd in the recently published WTA singles ranking. This year, she has suffered a lot due to injury, most recent instance being at Beijing Olympic 2008 where she was forced out of first round singles match due to wrist injury. However, the Indian tennis star remained at 27th in doubles ranking. Meanwhile, Serbian tennis star Ana Ivanovic retained her first place in singles ranking just one week after losing it to compatriot Jelena Jankovic. Women’s singles gold medalist at Beijing Olympic, Elena Dementieva, also improved two places to fifth.
Sania Mirza has not been in her prime form this year and underwent a wrist surgery in April, forcing her sit out the entire clay court season. Indian tennis star is now going to miss upcoming U.S. Open 2008 as she has been advised to rest for three weeks to overcome the wrist injury. Now, let us see if she can come back to court very soon, making a quick recovery from the wrist injury.
