India vs Australia Test Series 2008: Pacers to Hold the Key for India?
Indian team managed to clinch the ODI series in Sri Lanka, after conceding the test series. So, India’s tour to Sri Lanka was not a bitter experience as a whole. While Indian batsmen carried out their inconsistent form throughout the tour, their bowlers, especially pacers showed a glimpse of consistency in ODI series. With Zaheer Khan spearheading the pace attack, Indian pacers were instrumental behind India’s ODI success in Sri Lanka. Zaheer Khan played excellently well al through the matches with Munaf Patel making a good come back in the series. Following dismal show in Asia Cup, Praveen Kumar has also had a successful series, sharing new ball with Zaheer Khan.
With pacers surging to their prime, spinner Harbhajan Singh did not get much to do with his off spin, but was pretty much consistent to support the pacers in ODI series. Well, India has to face Australia in five day cricket at home in India’s slow, flat wicket. So, the task may not be so easy for the Indian pacers to replicate their ODI form in test cricket as well, while playing in unfriendly wicket for the pacers. However, the good thing is that Sreesanth will be back in the line up by the time India faces Australia in October and Indian pacers will come out full of confidence on the heels of their success in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
