India vs Australia Test Series 2008: Andrew Symonds Interested to Join Australia Squad for India Tour
Australian all rounder Andrew Symonds has joined a net session in Queensland on the same day Australian selectors has ruled him out for Australia’s tour to India. The Queenslander is now keen to join the Australia’s trip to India. Symonds hit the newspaper headlines for a number of times during last 12months due to his indiscipline. Lately, he was sent Darwin by Australian team management after he was accused of going to fishing, in stead of attending an important team meeting. He was earlier fined for coming late in practice during West Indies tour. However, reports have it that the player was affected psychologically by last year’s racism row with Harbhajan Singh. He admitted that he had not received enough support from the teammates during the racism row during India’s tour to Australia earlier this year.
Cricket Australia suggested Symonds to go through a rehabilitation program organized by the board that Hayden also went through. Adam Gilchrist, former team mate of Symonds, also admitted that the all rounder was heavily by that incident. However, as Australian selectors have already declared the 15-member Australian squad for the tour in India, it is less likely the selectors might change their decision to call Symonds for the upcoming series. However, nothing should be taken as granted yet, because he is an important middle order batsman of Australian batting line up. So, if he can show impressive progress in the coming days, he might be included in the squad for the tour to India.
