Tata Motors Pondering Extensive Expansion for Land Rover in India Car Market
After successfully acquiring British automobile brands Jaguar and Land Rover earlier in June this year, Tata Motors is now looking to widespread network expansion for Land Rover in India within next one year. Moreover, Tata Motors will also assess the market to bring Jaguar into Indian market. Though a dealership for Land Rover had been opened in Gurgaon recently, that is not part of their expansion plan in India.
India’s largest automobile manufacturer, Tata Motors, now attempts to bring the Land Rover and jaguar in Indian car market. In a statement, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) expressed that they are looking to venture in Indian market.
The Hindu reported:
“Land Rover is already present in India in Mumbai in a small way. What we understand from our colleagues in Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) that they are looking at expanding Land Rover’s footprint in the Indian market in a fairly aggressive manner in the near future,” Tata Motors President Passenger Cars Rajiv Dube told reporters here.
Asked by when the Jaguar brand would be brought to India, he said: “JLR has made a statement, they are looking at the Indian market…”
Land Rover and Jaguar are two premium passenger auto brands widely known across the world. Following the acquire of the two brands in July for over 2 billion, it is natural that Tata will try its best to bring both the brands into India’s ever increasing auto market. Tata already has vivid presence in Indian market with a large market share. Tata’s presence in India could be made stronger by the arrival of Land Rover and Jaguar.
