Delhi, the capital of India, is all set to be made free of beggars in the countdown to next year’s Commonwealth Games.

Two mobile courts to prosecute beggars has been launched and citizens who find beggars can contact the mobile courts through a control room. The courts will reach the location and pick up the beggars, Delhi Social Welfare Minister Mangat Ram Singhal said in New Delhi.

The minister launched the mobile courts to speed up cases against beggars, whose population in Delhi is approximately over 100,000.

After taking beggars in custody, the mobile courts would decide the type of punishment.

However, children caught begging would be sent to juvenile homes after taking into consideration the Juvenile Justice and Care Act.
