Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. is not going to compete in the Nano car segment
Famous Indian small car maker, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BOM:532500), announced that the company has no interest to compete with Tata Nano. In the 48th SIAM Annual Convention, MD R C Bhargava, Chairman, Maruti Suzuki India told reporters:
“Maruti has always been in small car segment and we have always concentrated on that category of up to 1200 cc cars. But Nano is something which is a totally different segment and we are not venturing or competing in that segment,”
Regarding the recent sales decline, Mr. Bhargava said that it is a temporary downslide which is not new in the in the Indian automarket.
Rising fuel price, coupled with high domestic inflation and global credit crunch the auto industry is facing a tough time just like any other industry in the country. He is hopeful that the industry would recover and the market would also stabilise
