West Indies dismiss coach Dyson
John Dyson, the Coach of the West Indies cricket team, has been sacked with immediate effect.
The Australian was dismissed after a meeting of the West Indies Cricket Board. His assistant David Williams will be taking over temporarily.
Dyson’s departure is the result of recent Test and One-day series defeats to Bangladesh, although the West Indies were forced to participate with very weak teams.
He became the West Indies coach in 2007 with the team securing a Test win over South Africa and a home Test series win over England.Nevertheless, the 55-year-old ex- coach of Sri Lanka was strongly criticized after not following the rain regulations in a one-day international against England in Guyana, which resulted in the West Indies losing the series to England 2-3.
Dyson was a former opening batsman who played 30 Tests for Australia.
