The music album of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has six tracks. Music has always been a very important element in Yash Raj Films movies. Previosuly, Yash Raj Films gave us great music in Mohabbatein, Veer-Zara, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. This is the biggest project ever done by composer duo Salim-Sulaiman and lyricist Jaideep Sahni. The main problem is all the songs are very much situational. Such songs are enjoyable as long as you are watching them with the movie. I could not find a song in the album that I would like to keep in my computer and listen to it time and time again. Aditya Chopra is considered to be a master when it comes to song picturization. This movie album will only do well if the movie does well in theatres. Other than that, it does not have a good chance to survive in the market.

You can call it the item song of this album. Sunidhi Chauhan is the ideal singer for such energetic, quick paced songs and she gives consistent performance. Interspersed with technobits and bhangra lyrics crooned by Labh Janjua, “Dance Pe Chance” fails to evoke the excitement it is supposed to for poor orchestration. In the movie, ShahRukh Khan played the role of a forty year old guy and this song is picturized on Shah Rukh Khan taking dance classes. Is it really possible for a guy that old to dance with such a tune? Of course, this is Hindi movie and you are supposed to leave your brain at home when you are watching one.

This is the instrumental version of ‘Dance Pe Chance.’ If you like instrumental music then you will enjoy it. Compared to the song, this instrumental version sounds better.
Haule Haule

So far, this is my most favorite song in this album. A very sweet and romantic song, this number carries the trade mark of Yash Raj music and what their movies is are all about. Bollywood Hungama says:
A slightly better number comes in the form of ‘Haule Haule’, a number which carries the flavor of Aaja Nachle soundtrack both in terms of middle-class setting and the overall simplicity of sound design. Rendered by Sukhwinder Singh who is subdued rather than being typically full throated, ‘Haule Haule’ is a situational track which is already on air and is being noticed for the way the bespectacled Shah Rukh Khan brings in all his experience while comfortably dancing around in his middle class clothing. The number has melody as its driving force.

I do not know how to categorize this song. You can call it a medley in the sense that it has picked tunes and lyrics from many famous Bollywood oldies and the ultimate result is ‘Zero.’ The song really does not fit into the movie and Sonu Nigam, who is famous for delivering numerous chartbusters, does not live up to his expectation. rabnebanadijodi.net says:
There are elements of ‘Jab Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai’, a dash of ‘Pal Bhar Ke Liye Koyi Hamein Pyaar Kar Le’, a helping of ‘Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke’ and a topping of ‘O Haseena Zulfon Waali’ along with ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar’ . Sonu Nigam provides the vocals and it feels as if he is holding the mike in front of his school teachers.
Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai

This is another sweet romantic number. It truly carries the trade mark of YRF music. Roop Kumar Rathod is a talented singer but he failed to do justice to the song. Singers like Udit Narayan and KK could have been a better choice for this song.
Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai (slow version)

This is the slow version and Shreya Ghosal’s soft voice makes it a sweet one. Buzz 18.com says:
Unfortunately, when the same is sung by Shreya Ghoshal, it seems to suffer from a serious Karva Chauth hangover. No offence to the ritual, but the prayer-like rendition sans rhythm, conjures images of bejewelled ladies with their lamps in designer gardens. Maybe the actual song picturisation has got nothing to do with Karva Chauth, but that’s exactly the mood evoked here. It is that cliched but mercifully rather short.
Finally, the music of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is very much average. Salim-Sulaiman failed to create the magic that was once created by musicians like Jatin-Lalit in Mohabbatein and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), and Madan Mohan in Veer-Zara (VZ). Except “Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai” and “Haule Haule,” the rest of the tracks are not so enjoyable. Overall, you may enjoy the album but these are not the type of songs you will enjoy even after a long time like DDLJ or VZ.

Since her husband is not very stylish and hip, he would not enjoy dancing and they would lose the show and it would make Taani a laughing stock among her friends. After hearing this, Shah Rukh undergoes a serious make over. Surinder and Taani then participate in the show. As the competition goes on, Taani gradually gets attracted to Surinder.

Ajay Devgan is gearing for his second directorial venture
Ajay Devgan is now on cloud nine. His latest movie, Golmaal Returns, is doing great business in theatres. However, the actor is not much affected with the success. He is very cool and calm. Instead, he is now focusing on his next directorial venture. This time, his wife, Kajol Devgan, is going to play the female lead in the movie. Ajay Devgan has not started shooting of the movie yet. For the time being, he is focusing on the technical aspects of his movie. entertainment.oneindia.com reports:
Devgan clarifies that the film should have gone on the floors but it is taking longer than expected. Reason? Well, Ajay wants his film to be technically perfect and on par with international standards, and these things take time. Ajay confirms that his wife, Kajol will once again star in the film and that there won’t be too many characters in the film (ala Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi; Shahrukh Khan too says that there are not many characters in the film!).
In April this year, Ajay Devgan made his directorial debut with U, Me Aur Hum. An emotional romantic movie, U, Me Aur Hum tells the story of a married couple who face a tough time in their relationship as the husband finds out that his wife has been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and she is losing her memory. The movie did not do well at the box office but Ajay Devgan and Kajol received critical acclaim for their performance. According to Ajay Devgan, he played it safe in U, Me, Aur Hum. This time, he would not hold back his instincts.

Apparently, Raj Kapoor at one time wanted to make a similar film written for him by his long-term collaborator Jainendra Jain.
This is not the first time, Anil Kapoor and Subhash Ghai joined hands. Previously, they made movies like Ram Lakhan. Rumor has it that Yuvraaj is actually inspired from Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman starrer Rainman. In Rainman, Dustin Hoffman actually played the autistic brother of Tom Cruise.
In 2005, Rani Mukherjee, played the role of Michelle McNally, a blind and deaf girl in Black. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Black is considered to be one of the masterpieces of Indian cinema. In 2003, Hrithik Roshan played the role of an autistic person in Koi..Mil Gaya and won Filmfare Best Actor Award and Filmfare Critics Award for his performance.

Sameer and Kunal, once two friends, turns enemies as they compete for Neha’s love. In the mean time, a third person enters the scene; Abhimanyu, Neha’s boss. Who will win Neha’s heart? That answer you are going to get today as Dostana is released in theatres all over the world.
First things first, Karan Johar’s father, Yash Johar, made a movie with similar title in 1980. Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, and Zinat Aman starred in the movie. Though Karan Johar said that the two movies have nothing in common, interestingly, Yash Johar’s Dostana(1980) had gay subtext. Yash Johar’s Dostana was a love triangle but Karan Johar’s is a quadrangle as there are three guys competing for one girl and two guys pose as gay. Yash Johar’s Dostana is a serious movie where Karan Johar’s Dostana is a comedy and it deals with homosexuality.
Dostana and homosexuality:
In India, Karan Johar is considered to be a gay icon but he has no problems with that. In his earlier movie, Kal Ho Naa Ho, there was a small gay subplot but that was a comical one. Dostana also deals with homosexuality but in a funny and humorous way. Still, Dostana is an exceptional mainstream commercial movie in the sense that the movie deals with a very controversial subject; homosexuality and it does not make it look ugly or nasty. The movie treats the subject with lots of respect. Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani deserve all the praise for their courageous effort to chose such an exceptional theme. From the trailer, you can easily understand that Dostana is a lavishly shot movie, which is a trademark of Karan Johar. From exclusive location to trendy clothes, to beautiful girls, Karan Johar knows how to deliver an entertaining package to the audience and that is what Dostana is all about. The trailer is just the tip of the iceberg. There are more to see in the movie. Taran Adarsh says:
If the first hour is laced with crackling chemistry between the guys and terrific humour, things get serious towards the second half since there’s one more person vying for Priyanka’s attention — Bobby Deol. There’s humour in this hour too, but the focus is mainly on who’d get Priyanka in the end.
The length is a slight deterrent in the second half and the editor could’ve easily cut the unwanted flab to make the narration in shape. But the film works as a package! Also, the film has a shocking end and people are bound to raise eyebrows.
Taran Adarsh dubbed Dostana as a “must see” movie. It comes with lots of laughter and fun and humor.

Although, the plot of the film is nothing very new, except for the very important gay element in the movie (which is something rare in mainstream Bollywood movies), it still manages to keep you glued to your seats because of its fresh treatment and because of some well-written and well-executed scenes, spontaneous performances and some clever dialogues. The film is basically a humorous one with a little emotional content (which, BTW, doesn`t look melodramatic at all).

The problem then is that the film is genuinely entertaining, albeit very obvious, in a way that it is likely to be a smash hit and reach millions of people — setting the gay rights movement in India back at least a decade. Sigh. Nobody expected a Brokeback Mountain, but a dollop or two of perspective tossed in the middle of all the item songs and bling wouldn’t hurt now, would it?
Acting:
In terms of acting, Dostana is going to be a proof that John Abraham can act. Though Karan Johar made him expose his body a lot in the movie, it did not overshadow his acting talent. Same thing goes for Abhishek Bachchan. He gave one of the best performances of his career in the movie. Priyanka Chopra’s performance was also “A”class. It looks like 2008, is going to be a good year for the actress. First, Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, and now its Dostana. Boman Irani is a talented actor and he comes with great sense for comedy timing. Movies like Munnabhai M.B.B.S., Khosla Ka Ghosla are examples of his comic acting. Bobby Deol, Kirron Kher, and Sushmita Mukherjee gave required performance for their characters.
Overall, Dostana is a hit all the way. If you are having a tough time and looking forward to do something hilarious then get a ticket and go and watch Dostana. It is a definite “paisa vasool” movie and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. There are beautiful locations, sexy girls in bikini, beautiful songs crafted by brilliant music composer duo Vishal-Shekhar that will keep your feet tapping, and last but not least, the gay twist of John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan, two of the most popular actors of the contemporary Bollywood. Gay or homosexuality is not something that Indian people feel comfortable with. Despite knowing the fact, Karan Johar gave it a go and it clicked. However, Karan did not portray a serious gay relationship like the Oscar winning movie, the Brokeback Mountain. Instead, Karan used the theme to put some twist in the story. The movie is still very much enjoyable and analysts are predicting that it would attract a large number of young audience between the age of sixteen and twenty five.

In 2005, Shaurya Chauhan appeared in a song in Salman Khan starrer Kyon Ki. In 2007, she did a major character in director Manoj Tyagi’s debut movie, Mumbai Salsa. In the movie, Shaurya Chauhan played the character of a Salsa dance instructor. Recently, she worked with Nana Patekar in Horn Ok Pleassss. Shaurya is a big fan of Nana Patekar. She was a bit afraid on the first day of the shooting because she heard so many negative stories about Nana Patekar before doing the movie. They were shooting in a shopping mall. Shaurya Chauhan heard that Nana Patekar was short tempered, shouts at people for making small mistakes. Shaurya was waiting anxiously in her vanity van. She was shivering and waiting for her call. She did not know how to behave or what to say in front of him. On the set, Nana Patekar was busy giving his own shots but when he noticed Shaurya’s nervousness, he smiled at her and started to encourage her while she was giving the shots. Anyway, what looked so scary turned out to be a funny experience for Shaurya Chauhan. She understood that all the talks were just rumors. Nana Patekar was a great person and a great actor to be with. In the end, Shaurya Chauhan was so much pleased with Nana Patekar. She even said that if she ever gets the opportunity, she would definitely play the romantic lead of Nanapatekar.
Regarding her movie career, Shaurya Chauhan said:
“I have always wanted to be a star,” she says, “I have not done any course in acting or dancing, but my sixth sense told me that one day I would be a star. Besides, as I was in the modeling industry, there was no better option than Bollywood.”
Item numbers and bold scenes are major problems for many Bollywood newbies but Shaurya Chauhan has no problems doing item numbers. She said that she loves doing item numbers and she is ready to do intimate scenes.
Shaurya Chauhan may be beautiful but do not just go for her look. She is a clever lady. Few days ago, Shaurya Chauhan caught a con-artist. The guy, posing as a director, contacted Shaurya through her public manager, Alok Mathur. He told Mathur that he was looking for an actress for his directorial debut and he told Mathur that he worked with Raj Kumar Hirani. Calling himself Ravi, the man then called Shaurya and said that she wanted to see her pictures. Later, she received a message from that person. The message goes “You are confirmed for my Tamil film starring Arya.” Arya is a top South Indian actor. Few days later, the man called Shaurya again and said that he is in Chennai and he is coming to meet her. He also said that Michelle, who is Hrithik Roshan’s hair-dresser is his ex-girlfriend and would do her hair in the movie.
On Sunday, they met again in a hotel in Mumbai. The man told Shaurya that Michelle would come to meet her. He then made few fake calls and told Shaurya that Michelle had a terrible accident and it would be great if she could lend her Rs. 10,000 cause he lost his credit card and had no money. He said that he would give the money to Michelle and his brother would deposit the money in Shaurya’s account in an hour. He then asked for Shaurya’s account number. Shaurya suspected foul play. In the meantime, the man and Shaurya drove till Bandra. Sharya kept checking her accounts whether she received any money but she did not. As he got down from the car, the man asked for Rs. 4000 but Shaurya gave him Rs. 700. After this, he got down from the car and suddenly started running. Times of India reports:
That convinced Shaurya that she had been taken for a ride. She decided to teach him a lesson. “He must have done this to many other aspirants in the film industry. I called him and asked him to meet me again on Monday. He came.” According to our photographer who was present in the hotel, the man became suspicious on seeing Mathur accompanying Shaurya. After a brief conversation, he tried to run away but was caught by Mathur. On being questioned, he claimed his name is M Kumarappan from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
Shaurya Chauhan registered a “non-cognisable complaint.” Kumarappan told police that he did this because he was in serious need of money.
The main problem in Bollywood movies is getting type-cast. Once you become successful in doing something, producers and directors will only offer you the same type of work. Shaurya Chauhan is young, she is beautiful and talented and has a long career ahead of her. Though she has no problems with item numbers or intimate scenes, she should carefully choose her projects. If she becomes type-cast, then she would keep getting the same type of roles. Bollywood is a very competitive industry. Everyday, hundreds and thousands of youngstars are trying to break into this industry. Very few can make it to the top but the toughest thing is holding on to that position. Shaurya Chauhan is very fortunate that she did not have to struggle a lot to get work in the industry. She started her career as a model. Like her there are many Bollywood actresses, who started their career as models. Now, the next important step for Shaurya Chauhan is to take up good roles where she would not only have to show her body.
