Hyundai Motor India Ltd., the largest car exporter of the country, is going to launch its latest five door super hatchback model, the Hyundai i20, in India after November. Created to compete with popular car models like Maruti Suzuki’s Swift, booking for Hyundai i20 will start in the last week of November. The new model was revealed in the recently held 2008 Paris Motor Show. It is designed by Hyundai Motor Co’s European Design Center in Russelsheim, Germany. The all new Hyundai i20 sports European tastes in terms of look and performance. autoblog.com reports:

…Featuring Hyundai´s distinctive design motifs ? a bold chrome–topped grille flanked by piercing teardrop headlamps at the front and striking stacked rear light clusters – the i20´s modern lines are further strengthened by neat detailing, including colour–co–ordinated bumpers, sills and wing mirror. The well–packaged interior boasts generous levels of standard equipment.

The Hyundai i20 is inspired by the Hyundai i30 which has been already launched in Europe and South Korea. The Hyundai i10, the predecessor of the Hyundai i20, is created for the ‘A’ segment customers. The Hyundai i20 has been created for B/B+ segments. vicky.in says:

i20 front is defined with a low slung grille, large headlamps and sporty round fog lamps. The steeply raked winds screen flows smoothly and merges with a novel tail section. Similar to Renault Clio, Hyundai i20 features an upright tailgate which means more room for luggage too. Interiors will be top notch with high-quality plastics and it will be comfortable with a more flexible seating layout similar to i10.

Compared to the Hyundai Getz, the Hyundai i20 has a longer wheelbase, more inside space. The car also comes with latest techniques and more dynamic features. Produced in Hyundai Motor’s modern facility at Sriperumbudur in Chennai, the Hyundaii20 will be available in both petrol and diesel version. Though there has been no news about pricing, it is speculated that the car will cost Rs.5,50,000.
