Kidnap Hindi movie and Drona box office performance review
Kidnap Hindi movie:
Kidnap Hindi movie and Drona were released on Thursday. Due to Eid festival and Gandhi Jayanti, lot of people went to see the movie. Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. sold Kidnap Hindi movie for Rs. 360 million to Indian Films. The company also spent Rs. 40 million on promotion and marketing. Studio 18 , the company that is distributing Kidnap Hindi movie said that on September 2, 2008, it collected approximately Rs. 50 million.
Kidnap Hindi movie did well in multiplexes in big cities but not good in small towns. Since Thursday was a festival day, the theatres saw a large number of people. According to the report of Studio 18 said that they collected approximately Rs. 50 milllion. The collection went down on the next day as it was a working day.
Though the promos and songs of Kidnap Hindi movie created lots of enthusiasm among the viewers, it failed live up to its expectation. Many are saying that the movie lacks the suspense it was supposed to create as a revenge drama. The script was not so good. Moreover, there were many nonsense stuffs which made Kidnap Hindi movie not so enjoyable.
Kidnap Hindi movie overseas business:
In Middle-East, Kidnap Hindi movie 4,00,000 Dirhams on September 1, 2008. On September 2, 2008, it collected 3,50,000 Dirhams.
In UK, Kidnap Hindi movie collected £ 65,000 on September 2, 2008. On September 3, 2008, the movie collected £ 44,000.
Kidnap Hindi movie also released in Pakistan on Eid day.
Drona:
Compared to Kidnap Hindi movie, Drona is more expensive. The production cost of Drona ranged from Rs. 450 million to Rs. 500 million. In addition, there is the promotion cost. Eros Entertainment who co-produced the movie is also distributing the movie.
Like Kidnap Hindi movie, Drona is also getting negative reviews so far. People are not happy at all to see Abhishek Bachchan as Drona. He does not have the necessary physique to carry the role. The producers could not decide, whether they are going to do a fantasy movie or a super hero movie. Though Goldie Behl said that Drona is not a superhero flick but in the movie, Abhishek Bachchan’s actions make him look more like a superhero. In addition, the villain was not so strong.
Drona domestic and overseas business:
Like Kidnap Hindi movie, Drona also attracted large number of people to the theatres due to Eid festival. On the Eid day, Drona did houseful business in major movie theatres in U.P. On September 3, 2008, there was a decline. In Middle East, Drona collected 4,00,000 Dirhams on September 2, 2008.
So far, none of the movies stack up an impressive figure. We have to wait till the end of the first week.
