Namitha was born on May 10, 1981 in Surat,Gujarat,India. Her father is a textile businessman and her mother is a housewife. Namitha lives in Chennai now, with 30 over films in her credit, she has over 2500 fan clubs and is doing lots of charity work and has a soft corner for HIV effected kids and often Aids them in Pondicherry Communicable Disease center.
She began her career by participating in the Femina Miss India Contest. She was crowned Miss Surat in 2000 and came fourth in the Miss India contest during the year 2001
