Shah Rukh Khan does it again with “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”
People of Mumbai are still recuperating from the massacre. In such a time, Yash Raj Films’ Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is released. Once again, the winning pair of Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra comes together and every body is expecting some thing great. Well, the movie is an exceptional one in the sense that it does not showcase beautiful girls with latest designer dresses or depicts a picture perfect world and lavish sets like typical Yash Raj Films. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi revolves around every day people.
Shah Rukh Khan plays the character of a middle class ordinary Punjabi fellow, Surinder Sahni (Shahrukh Khan), who is in his fortys and still a bachelor. In a bizarre twist of fate he gets married to Taani (Anushka Sharma), a girl who is much younger to him. Taani is the opposite of Surinder. She is full of life, energetic and a fun loving character. The story takes an interesting turn when Taani gets the opportunity to perform in a dance reality show but does not want to participate in fear of losing the competition and becoming a laughing stock among her friends. Surinder overhears Taani’s problem and decides to give it a shot. He entirely changes his out look and pairs up with Taani. In the process, the couple discovers love.
Now, the main problem of the movie is that it does not have a strong story. The story of the movie is written by Aditya Chopra but he could not live up to the expectation. Viewers will not enjoy the movie althrough. The film makers took the audience for a fool. How come it is possible that Taani fails to recognize her husband in a different outfit? In most of the cases, the story starts to drag. Aditya Chopra has taken a very “hatke” type of story which is very traditional at heart but poor narration just killed the movie.
So what is good about the movie? Well, obviously the King Khan himself. Shah Rukh Khan still can act. He played the character of Surinder Sahni very well. You can not help but like that guy. Anushka Sharma is a talented actress but she failed to show her true potential due to the poor characterization. Due to Yash Raj Films’ clever markeing strategies, the movie is attracting lots of people to the theatres in the opening weekend. In Bihar, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi is doing house-full business. In Mumbai also, the movie is doing well. Now, we have to wait and see how it does in the coming weeks.
