Priyanka Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan joined together for the second time to set the screen on fire in ‘Drona.’ Interestingly, this is also her second super hero movie. In 2006, she starred in Krrish with Hrithik Roshan. In an interview with Rediff the actress cadidly talks about her experience of ‘Drona.’

Interestingly, the making ‘Drona’ was like a big family affair. Abhishek Bachchan and director Goldie Behl are like brothers. They know each other since childhood. Their families are very close. The movie was produced by Srishti Arya, Goldie Behl’s sister, and Eros Entertainment. Tanya, art designer of the movie was Goldie Behl’s younger sister. Priyanka Chopra did not feel like an outsider. She received a warm welcome.

‘Drona’ is a fantasy movie. The story of the movie shows what happened centuries after Sagar manthan (the churning of the sea). According to Hindu mythology, when the sea was churned by the gods many magical things came out including 14 ratnas (treasures). One of the ratnas is Amrit (nectar). It was hidden on earth. The ratna will make people immortal and a Maharishi (saint) was appointed to take care of the Amrit. However, demons started to attack the Maharishi and he went to Maharaja Virbhadra Singh who promised to keep the Amrit safe. The Maharishi named Virbhadra Singh ‘Drona’ since he was protecting the Amrit and all his descendants will be called by the same name. In ‘Drona,’ Priyanka Chopra played the character of Sonia, whose forefathers had been protecting KJing Virbhadra Singh. ‘Drona’ is a fantasy movie and comes with 15,00 special effects.

About her look in ‘Drona,’ Priyanka Chopra said:

It is a powerful, strong and wild look. But at the same time, my character has to look very feminine. That’s why the jacket I wear has zardozi and silk brocade. I wear flowy chiffon around my waist. For the tough effect, I wear leather on my turban. We wanted to have a turban to control my hair, as I have long, wild hair in the film. The turban has braids to give it a feminine touch.

To play her role in the movie, Priyanka Chopra learned Gathka, a kind of martial art. She had to learn how to use a weapon that looks like a wheel with ropes and small balls attached to it. There is school of Gathka at the village of Hoshiyarpur in Punjab. The trainers were called in to teach Priyanka Chopra for twenty days. Priyanka Chopra will also be seen wielding a dagger.

Priyanka Chopra enjoyed very much working with Goldie Behl because the director has a very clear view of what he wants from his characters. He is also very flexible and open to suggestions. If he feels something is good for the movie, the he would support it or else he would not. He does not have an ego.
