The second test between India and Australia starts from 17 October 2008 at Mohali. Now, curator Daljit Singh has recently said that Mohali wicket will help both the batsmen as well as the bowlers. He hopes that after a day’s cricket, there will be 300 runs on the board with 10 wickets being fallen down.

Daljit Singh, the chairman of the BCCI’s grounds and pitches committee, also thinks that pacers will get the help of wicket on the first day as there will maximum moisture and the second and third day will be helpful for the batsmen for stroke play, while the spinners will get the favor of the wicket on the fourth and fifth days. Daljit Singh is hopeful that this wicket will create a result.

Sify reported:

“On the first day, there will be maximum moisture in the pitch, but as the match progresses, the pitch will become harder and provide an ideal and unpredictable bounce. Initially, the ball will not come fast but it will be helpful for the seamers.

“With each passing day, the pitch dries up and becomes suitable for the strokeplay and the ball will carry, so second and third days will be good for the batsmen. With the increased wear and tear, the fourth and fifth day will provide better opportunities for spinners,” he added.

No doubt, it will be a competitive match if the wicket provides with some helps for both the batsmen as well as the bowlers. Indian wickets are typically batting friendly and offer maximum help for the spinners; but it will be very interesting if Mohali wicket can offer some extra bounce for the pacers. The good news for the pacers is that they might get good amount of moisture due to heavy monsoon recently. Now, let us see if Mohali wicket acts differently this time.
