For her character ‘Sakhi,’ in her upcoming movie, Chandni Chowk to China, actress Deepika Padukone learned Ju-jitsu. It is a Japanese martial art. Deepika Padukone went on a high-protein diet. She studied Ju-jitsu for four months. In Japanese language, ‘Ju-jitsu’ means gentle skill. As Deepika Padukone was in sports, it was not so difficult for her. Deepika Padukone also learned to do fight sequences hanging from wires and cables. She was trained by a Chinese instructor.

In Chandni Chowk to China, she did few action sequences all by herself. Though director Nikhil Advani was not sure in the beginning, Deepika Padukone performed the action sequences perfectly. She did not go for a body double and even did some action sequences without using safety cables. Director Nikhil Advani was very much impressed with Deepika Padukone’s high level of professionalism. Actor Akshay Kumar, her co-star in the movie, also helped her a lot.

Last month, Deepika Padukone launched a beauty contest ‘Fiama Di Wills Beautiful Face 2008 Hunt.’ The launching ceremony took place in Mumbai. Deepika Padukone is the ambassador of the beauty brand. The contest is aimed at finding out beautiful faces and giving them a platform to showcase their beauty and talent. Only fifteen girls were chosen for the final and they were sent for grooming in Delhi. The models will participate in the final round of the Elite Model Look India Hunt 2008 at the Will Lifestyle India Fashion Week in New Delhi starting from October 15, 2008. The winner will represent India at the global Elite Model Look 2008 contest which will be held in November in China.
