Director Sanjay Gadhvi says that Kidnap Hindi movie is a Sanjay Dutt vehicle
Sanjay Gadhvi does not need any introduction. He debuted as a director with Tere Liye in 2000. The success of Dhoom and Dhoom 2 turned him into one of the top directors in Bollywood. Once again, he is back with Kidnap Hindi movie. In an interview with Buzz18, the director talked about the making of Kidnap Hindi movie.
Though Imran Khan and Minissha Lamba played the central characters of the movie, Sanjay Gadhvi said that Kidnap Hindi movie is Sanjay Dutt’s movie. It would not have been made without Sanjay Dutt. To play the role of the kidnapper, Sanjay Gadhvi was looking for a boy but there are not too many young actors. Fortunately, script writer of Kidnap Hindi movie, Shibani Bathija, told him of Amir Khan’s nephew, Imran Khan. After meeting with Imran Khan, within three seconds, Sanjay Gadhvi understood that Imran Khan would the perfect fit for the role of kidnapper. As per Minissha, Sanjay Gadhvi liked her performance in Yahaan. Minissha Lamba has a ‘girl-next-door vibe’ in her appearance.
Many people believe that, actresses in Sanjay Gadhvi’s movies go through extreme make over but he thinks other wise. Sanjay believes that the Generation-X Bollywood audience has become more demanding and Bollywood actors and actresses are very well aware of the fact. At the time of making Kidnap Hindi movie, Sanjay Gadhvi was not aware of Jaane Tu Ya. . . .Jaane Na (JTYJN). He was shocked to see Imran Khan in JTYJN. However, he is happy that the movie was a hit but the pressure increased. For Minissha Lamba’s role, he told her to lose a little weight.
Sanjay Gadhvi mainly found success with Dhoom and Dhoom2. Since it was a Yash Raj Films production does not mean that he hates those movie. Sanjay Gadhvi is indebted to Yash Raj Films for giving him the opportunity but movies like Dhoom and Dhoom2 are packaged entertainers which are easy to make. For this reason, Sanjay Gadhvi wanted to make something more serious and substantial and he ended up with Kidnap, Hindi movie.
After Kidnap Hindi movie, Sanjay Gadhvi would take a break. He has been working continuously for the past 19 years. Now, he feels that he deserves a break.
