India vs Australia Test Series 2008: Shortage of Spinners in Australian Team
Ahead of Australia’s tour to India, Australian team is facing shortage of spinner. Recently, Beau Casson and Bryce McGain have fallen in injury during Australia A’s tour to India. Australian selectors sent the two spinners to India with Australia A, thinking of giving some experience of Indian condition ahead of the India tour of Australia national team.
Beau Casson picked up with a groin strain and would return Australia. McGain fell into a side injury before the start of a three-day match against India A. Casson admitted that the injury came as a disappointment as he was looking to gain some experience of playing in Indian condition.
Australia will play four test matches in the series with the first test starting from 9 October 2008. In the absence of the two spinners, Jason Krejza, a finger spinner from Tasmania, has been included in the Australia A squad. Australian selectors are now facing some problems to send a quality spin attack in India to face Indian team in their turning wickets. It is not yet confirmed if Beau Casson and Bryce McGain will recover from injuries in time to catch the Indian flight.
