Canada has voluntarily offered to stage the upcoming India vs Australia test series in Toronto, if Australia cancels the tour on security ground. Canada has previous experience of staging an ODI series between India and Pakistan during the period of political tension between the two neighboring countries. Recently, Cricket CEO Atul Ahuja has said that Canada is ready to stage the four-match test series if by the series is cancelled on security concern.
Atul Ahuja has also added that this is not that Canada is only interested about the upcoming series, rather he asked all the cricket boards in the sub-continent to help Cricket Canada to build a friendship stadium in Toronto to stage any series in the future that would otherwise be cancelled on security ground. He thinks, Toronto can be a solution to the problem and he believes that staging series like this would boost up Canadian cricket and help Cricket Canada to build world-class cricketing facilities.
Australia’s upcoming tour to India fell in deep trouble following a deadly bomb blasts in New Delhi that killed 20 people and injured 90. But recently, Cricket Australia has confirmed that Australia will go ahead with the tour in which four test matches will take place. The first of the four test matches will start from 9 October 2008 in Bangalore.
