Andrew Symonds Missing India Tour, Needed to Undergo Psychological Rehabilitation
Andrew Symonds is going to miss Australia’s upcoming tour of India in October. The all rounder has been sent home from Darwin after being accused of going to fishing when he was supposed to attend an important team meeting. Cricket Australia also suggested Symonds to undergo a rehabilitation program conducted by Cricket Australia medical staff. His current condition is being compared to that of fast bowler Shaun Tait who announced a short break from Cricket in January, indicating his mental and physical problem.
Australia’s squad for the four-test series will be made public on 13 September, but it is pretty much confirmed that the player will miss India tour in October. Head of selectors, Cricket Australia, Andrew Hilditch, said that he along with other selectors would assess Symonds’ prospect ahead of the tour.
Andrew Symonds was in newspaper headlines on a number of occasions over the last few months due to his indiscipline attitude. He was fined for being late in team practice while touring West Indies. Symonds, on the other hand, expressed that he had not received enough support from his teammates during Harbhajan Singh’s racism row. According to recent reports, Symonds felt his teammates are against him.
Well, I think, it might be the case of a psychological stress that Andrew Symonds is suffering. These days, cricket schedule is too much packed with tournaments and tours in all three formats with Indian premier league being emerged as an additional money-making tournament.
