Andorra vs England World Cup 2010 Qualifying: Live Score
England will start their 2010 world cup qualifying campaign with the match against Andorra in the UEFA Group six. Andorra already started their campaign with a 3-0 loss at Kazakhstan on two weeks ago. The match will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona which is locally known as Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on 6 September 2008, Saturday. Last year, England defeated Andorra 3-0 in Euro 2008 qualifying match, but their performance was not as good as it had been expected.
Even Andorra showed their ability of resistance, keeping it goal less until the first half. Later on, England failed to qualify for Euro 2008 final tournament. So, this time England wants to make a good start in the 2010 world cup qualifying with an emphatic victory over Andorra. Similarly, Andorra does not have a good recent record with them as they lost their opening match in world cup qualifying, and they lost all of the 12 matches in Euro 2008 qualifying round. So, an inspirational performance could be a confidence-booster for the 182nd-ranked Andorra.
Time and Venue of Andorra vs England Match
The match will kick off at 19:00 BST (British Standard Time). It will take place at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys (widely known as the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona), named after former president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Lluís Companys i Jover. The stadium was rebuilt in 1989 to host the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. It is situated in the Anella Olímpica, on Montjuic. This is the home ground of Spanish La Liga club RCD Espanyol. It has a seating capacity of 55,926 which was 70,000 during 1992 Summer Olympic Games.
The same stadium hosted last year’s encounter between Andorra and England too. Actually, it is a home match for Andorra, but the match will be held in Barcelona because Andorra has no quality ground to host an international match like this. So, Andorra will not have the home advantage in the match. Now, let us see if people of Barcelona support Andorran players, considering the fact that it is supposed to be a home match of Andorra!
