World’s Cheapest Laptop for just $10 or $100 from India?
In the last few days, we have seen a huge interest in media about an Indian laptop that would be only $10. Then, there are new reports that the price is not $10 but $100. In fact, this laptop has not come to the market yet. It has not been made yet. Rather it is in the developing process. I could not find any specific information about when it will hit the market.
I am amused by the fact that Indian government officials suddenly came to this conclusion that Indian students need to have low-cost laptops. If you remember Indian government did not join the OLPC project in the first place.
I’d really like to know what is the thing that changed the mind of Indian decision makers about low-cost laptops.

It is really nice. I am happy that my relative country is taking such an important decision that help the young generation to go ahead with the time. I also want that type of facility in my country. Wish it will be soon.
US$100 is still a lot of money for most Indians, unless the Indian government is planning on subsidizing the cost somehow? Ah, read the PC article, and it was mentioned that there’s no mention of subsidization or even specs of the computer itself. So there’s no real indication of what it would be able to run even.
