After winning French Open, Wimbledon and Olympic Singles gold medal, Rafael Nadal has come to play at US Open 2008 with a view to giving another shot at grand slam. Despite a weak start in the first round, Nadal has already reached the third round and he seems to be getting better with the tournament approaches. The Spaniard easily defeated American qualifier DeHeart 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 in the three-hour long second round match.

DeHeart never looked dangerous for the Spaniard no. 1 all through the match. Nadal won the first two sets with sheer ease, but faced a bit of challenge in the third. DeHeart won the first three games in the third set, but that only stimulated Nadal to come out with his best and provide some high class of performance. At the end, Nadal took the third set 6-4, and confirmed his victory without having to require any more sets.

Nadal has already marked the year 2008 as a breakthrough year in his career after winning the grass court grand slam title at Wimbledon and clinching the no. 1 spot in ATP ranking. Now, in his bid to win his first ever hard court grand slam title, he is now in the third round and is going to face young Serbian Viktor Troicki in the third round.
