NBA Star Yao Ming to Carry Chinese Flag at Opening Ceremony of Beijing Olympics Games

Chinese Basketball star Yao Ming will carry Chinese flag on behalf of Chinese Olympic team into the National Stadium, known as Bird’s Nest, at the opening ceremony, scheduled to take place on Friday night. Yao Ming also carried the Olympics torch in Beijing yesterday. Regarding his selection for flag bearer, deputy chief of China’s Olympic team, Cui Dalin, said that Yao Ming is someone who can represent Chinese athletes successfully, given his very good sportsmanship, ethics and public image in evidence.

Yao Ming plays for Houston Rockets in National Basketball Association (NBA). He is very popular in China. The 7 feet 6 inches tall, Ming is the one of the key players who will carry the large part of Chinese hope of winning first ever Olympics medal in Basketball in Beijing Olympics Games 2008.
