The ‘A Star’ will be manufactured only in India and will be exported to European market. The K-Series engines will be produced in a new manufacturing plant in Gurgaon. K-Series will have lowest carbon emission in the country with high fuel efficiency. Within 3-5 years, K-Series engines will be fitted in all existing and new models.

This engine is the most superior of all series from Maruti since it complies with the highest emission standards, is lighter and offers more fuel efficiency than any of the others currently being used. A company spokesperson confirmed to DNA Money that over the next 3-5 years, the new engine series would be progressively planted on existing as well as new models. At present, there are five other engine series for various Maruti models with different performance parameters.
Besides K-Series an engine, the company is also planning to design cars from scratch in India and R&D centre are being setting up for this reason. Maruti Suzuki is looking to reach one million sales targets annually by 2010 and aiming to increase its exports units to two lakh units.
