Chandni Chowk to China: Akshay Kumar as ‘Sidhu’

The beginning of 2008 may not be good for Akshay Kumar but now he has every reason to be happy. His Singh is Kinng has made a new box office record in first week collection. The movie is a huge success. His next movie, Chandni Chowk to China has created a lot of hype among viewers. Chandni Chowk to China is based on his life story. Akshay Kumar who was born to a Punjabi family was raised up at Chandni Chowk in Delhi. He then goes to Bangkok and worked as a chef and studied martial arts.

Chandni Chowk to China is the first martial arts movie in Bollywood. It is a comedy action movie made for children. Akshay Kumar played Sidhu, who was born and brought up in Chandni Chowk and cuts vegetable in a roadside food stall. Sidhu hates his job and life. He wants to escape but he is lazy and inactive and looks for shortcuts. Instead of working hard, he goes to the astrologers and fakirs. Then one day, two strangers from China come to him and say that he is the reincarnation of a great warrior. Sidhu dreams of a great life enjoying wine and woman but he does not know that he is taken to a remote Chinese village, to fight a notorious smuggler named Hojo (Gordon Liu). Sidhu then starts for China with Chopstick (Ranvir Shorey), a conman who actually tricked Sidhu to go to China saying that he would have a great life over there. On his way, he meets Sakhi (Deepika Padukone) who is going to her birthplace to pay homage to her father and twin sister.

Meanwhile, Hojo came to know about Sidhu and sent his henchmen but Sidhu was able to avoid them. Finally, Hojo catches Sidhu and reveals that he is no hero which enrages Sidhu and he becomes determined to take revenge. He then finds a Kung Fu teacher who would teach him martial arts. Sidhu then comes back and fights and win back his honor and his love, Sakhi.
