Bachna Ae Haseeno: Interview of director Siddharth Anand
Siddharth Anand is the director of Bachna Ae Haseeno, the upcoming movie of Yash Raj Films. Earlier, he directed two other movies of Yash Raj banner: Salaam Namaste and Ta Ra Rum Pum. Both Siddharth Anand’s father and grand father were engaged in movie business. His father, Bittu Anand produced Amitabh Bachchan’s super hit movie, Shahenshah. In an interview with Rediff correspondent, Nithya Ramani, the director talks about his experience of making Bachna Ae Haseeno.
While talking about the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno, Siddharth Anand said that the movie is a romantic journey of a boy. He meets three different girls in three different stages of his life and learns new things from each of them. Ranbir Kapoor plays the character of Raj Sharma, a gaming expert. He is not a womanizer but a very gentle and charming boy. Bipasha Basu is an independent minded girl, Deepika Padukone is an NRI girl and Minissha Lamba is a small town girl.
When asked about casting a new comer like Ranbir Kapoor, Siddharth replied that he does not consider Ranbir Kapoor as a new comer. Siddharth thinks that Ranbir Kapoor has the potential because he has got the acting genes. He studied the character very well. The biggest advantage of Ranbir is that he can look like a 16 year old and a 30 year old at the same time.
The title of the movie is taken from one of the most famous songs of R.D. Burman. Siddharth said:
No. The song was thought of later. The very fact that the film has three leading ladies and one hero called for the title. This title aptly suited the theme of the film. Only after half the film was shot, we decided to add the song in it.
After a string of flops like Ta Ra Rum Pum, Tashan, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Aaja Nachle, Yash Raj Films is taking extra precautions for Bachna Ae Haseeno. The movie has been promoted for two months. Already the title song of the ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is ruling the top chart. Recently, a promotional music video of the movie has been released and it was really great.
