Bachna Ae Haseeno: A big applause for Yash Raj Films

The odds were quite high; Bachna Ae Haseeno (BAH) was released along with Salman Khan starrer God Tussi Great Ho. Moreover, Akshay Kumar starrer Singh is Kinng was making huge waves at the box office. Yet, Bachna Ae Haseeno walked away with laurels. Thanks to all the hard work of the cast and crew. After giving out several below average movies, Yash Raj Films finally released something that has been appreciated by the audience. The movie which cost a modest Rs. 190 million collected Rs. 210-220 million in the opening week in the domestic market. In US, it collected $424,313. According to Ranbir Kapoor, BAH has five strong points:

As per Ranbir, first it’s the story, secondly, Bipasha, Deepika and Minissha, then the director Siddharth Anand followed by Yash Raj Films. In the end and the fifth USP to be precise are composers Vishal-Shekhar. When queried about his own contribution, the teenage heartthrob rather humbly agrees and says - a little bit of me too!

With BAH,  Ranbir Kapoor found his success in Bollywood. The movie explored his comedy side. The actor always wanted to do comedy movies but he was not sure whether he would be able to pull one. Ranbir Kapoor’s first movie, Saawariya, which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, bombed at the box office. About BAH Ranbir Kapoor said:

“It’s really difficult to do comedy, but I really enjoyed it, especially on the sets … because the atmosphere was such,” the 25-year-old actor said.

“(It) was written so funnily that it wasn’t too difficult to pull those scenes off.”

Sure, the movie is funny and it not only brought smile on the face of Ranbir Kapoor but also to Yash Raj Films and the audience.
