Have you heard the name of Julie Coin? Even did you know that she was a French tennis player? Of course, I have to admit that I never heard her name and in fact by doing some search in google, I could not find anything about her in wikipedia. So, you can see that Julie Coin is a very ordinary and unheard female tennis player. Her ranking is 188th in the world and she is now 25 years old and she is from France. I am saying so many words about her simply because today she has caused the greatest upset of her entire career and of US Open 2008. She defeated Ana Ivanovic by 6-3, 4-6 and 6-3. This is a big shock for Ana Ivanovic.

As Nadal moves through the gears in pursuit of his third Grand Slam of the year, women’s No 1 Ivanovic’s progress in New York was halted by French qualifier Julie Coin.

The 25-year-old Coin, ranked 188th in the world and making her Grand Slam debut, clinched the 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win on her third match point in the one hour and 57 minutes on Arthur Ashe court.

“I’m just enjoying the moment,” said Coin, who had also never played a match on the WTA Tour before this week.

They played for nearly two hours and Ana Ivanovic came back in the second set. However, in the third set Coin proved to be stronger and took it 6-3. In fact, Ana Ivanovic can not blame any other person but herself as she committed too many unforced errors in the match. She made 8 double faults and 37 unforced errors and it was enough to ensure her defeat at the hand of Julie Coin. Let us see how far Julie Coin can advance in US Open 2008.
