The music of God Tussi Great Ho is average
Do you remember Partner, the Salman Khan and Govinda movie released in 2007? The story was inspired from Will Smith’s hit romantic movie, Hitch. This year the history repeats with God Tussi Great Ho, which is the rip-off of Jim Carrey’s Bruce Almighty. The most interesting thing is that the making of the movie took four years.
The music album of God Tussi Great Ho has been released and the verdict is, it is just an average Hindi album. There is nothing special about it. Except the title song, God Tussi Great Ho, Let’s Party, and Tumko Dekha, the rest of the songs are not so enjoyable. The remix versions are not so enjoyable either; except the remix of Lets party.
The music of the movie has been done by Sajid Wajid. The duo have been working with Salman Khan for ten years and composed hit music albums like Partner, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Tere Naam, Hum Tumhare Hai Sanam, Tumko Na Bhool Payenge, Hello Brother and Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. Very often you will see Hindi movies that are not so great but the songs are very much enjoyable. For example, Partner, the comedy movie of Salman and Govinda which was below average in every way but it had good songs. This time, the Sajid Wajid magic could not spread their charm. The Lyrics are penned by Jalees Sherwani and Shabbir Ahmed.
Let’s Party:
Singer: Shaan Sunidhi Chauhan
Lyrics: Jalees Sherwani
If you have seen Kal Ho Na Ho then, you are already familiar with this song. Yes, it is almost similar to that of ‘It’s the time to disco.’ The music composition is almost the same; except you will see Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Priyanka instead of Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. However, it is and energetic song and good to hear. Just for the fun of it.
Lets Party (remix version):
Since it is a dance song, it has quick paced music and rhythm. The techno bit of the remix version just puts in more energy into the song. It is very good to listen.
Tujhe Aksa Beach dekhau:
Singer: Wajid, Amrita Kak
Lyrics: Shabbir Ahmad.
This is hip-hop style song. You have already seen it in the promotional video of the movie. You can say that this song is a carbon copy of ‘Just Chill’ where Sohail Khan and Salman Khan struggle for Sonia. The lyrics is similar to Aamir Khan’s ‘Aati Kya Khandala,’ or Chalti Hay Kya Nau se Bara. If you are a Salman Khan fan you will really enjoy Salman’s tapori style.
Tujhe Aksa Beach dekhau (remix version):
The remix version is as equally disappointing as the original version is good to hear. There is nothing significant except in the middle, some of music are done in the style of Amitabh Bachchan’s Lawaaris.
God Tussi Great Ho:
Singer: Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan
This is the title song of the movie and it exudes the comedic nature of the movie. It
is definitely a funny song and the lyrics is very funny and most importantly, it is the brilliant singers-Sonu Nigam and Shankar Mahadevan, who really give the finishing touch. Their singing style complements this fun feeling and after sometime you can not help but start laughing. Kudos to these two great singers.
God Tussi Great Ho (remix version):
Just another disappointing remix version.
Tumko Dekha:
Singer: Neeraj Sridhar, and Shreya Ghoshal.
Lyrics: Jalees Sherwani
A last minute addition, this is definitely the best song of the album. The indi-pop style music composition and the soft romantic tune will sooth you down. This is the song you can expect to hear on your way returning home from a hectic day in office. This is one song of the album that you will really enjoy; good music and good composition.
Lal Chunariya:
Singer: Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan
Lyrics: Deven Shukla
This is the last original track of the album. If you remember the song, “Lal Dupatta” from Mujhse Shadi karogi, this is the same type of song but the music will make you feel like you are hearing a romantic song of the 90s Hindi movie. Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan effortlessly instill the romantic feeling.
Overall, I give two out of five to this album. Listening to the songs you will feel like you are just listening to some old movie songs. Sajid Wajid did not give much effort to bring out the best in them rather they just picked up old melodies and joined them together.
